The business side…

What led you to pursue this career path? ‍ ‍I've loved math my whole life. Seven-year-old me would've said I was going to be a mathematician when I grew up. Then I took courses in college that showed me how much I dislike proof writing and set theory, so mathematician was out, but I still very much enjoy numbers and data.

What is the best piece of career advice you have been given? Never be afraid to ask questions and ask for help. I'd rather further my understanding of a task and be able to do it better next time rather than just struggle and not get it every day of the week.

What has been your most rewarding professional experience so far? Corny as it sounds, getting this job. On top of that, looking back on 7 months so far and seeing my own growth.

What is the most stressful part of your job? One day deadlines. Though as I get stronger on those projects, the deadline becomes less intimidating. More broadly, it's exams.

Do you have a professional mentor? Me, myself and I. Unless you count the fact that everyone in this office is always willing to help me out if needed.

How do you approach your work/life balance? Separating the spaces helps me out. That's been my philosophy, even in school. I always studied more effectively if I was at a separate location from home.

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute to your success and why? My level-headedness. I like to think I do not get too high or low in most situations.

Do you have one professional skill you are currently working on? I am starting a course about Python coding. I took some courses in college, but I would like to improve my ability.

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute to your success and why? I consider myself to be quite adaptable and able to develop expertise in whatever I do.

What is one professional skill you are currently working on? AI integration. It can't do my job for me, and I hope it never can. But it is able to help me learn some of the more technical aspects of my job and allows me to put projects together that I might not be able to do otherwise.

What is one piece of advice you would give someone just starting out in your same career path? The same thing I keep in mind: Everyone has struggled and we all know how hard it is. The least I can do for someone new is to make their struggle a little easier to manage. But for me to do that, I need you to ask for help.

And the personal side…

What is your favorite food?  I'm a pasta guy. Favorite restaurant? I don't have an all time favorite, but right now, it's Mangia Italiana.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever made? It's almost more of a puzzle than something I made, but my wife got me a wooden pinball set that took, cumulatively, around 16 hours to build, complete with working flippers, bumpers, lights and sound. I love that thing!

What was your first job? I was a lawn mower for a lawn care company.

What is the best vacation you have ever taken? I'd have to give that to our honeymoon at an all-inclusive resort in Cancun. But we've got a trip to San Francisco and the Redwood Forest that I'm hoping ends up near the top of the list.

Do you have any siblings? I'm the oldest with a younger brother.

What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas seems to have an effect that makes everyone a little kinder and happier. Between that and spending time with family, I gotta go with that.

What is your guilty pleasure? I don't have much in the way of 'guilty pleasures' because I'll usually just own whatever weird thing I'm doing.

What is something that always makes you smile?‍ I'll always laugh at a good pun.

Where did you grow up?‍ ‍Waukesha, WI, twenty minutes outside of Milwaukee.

What is your favorite season and why?‍ ‍Fall. It marks the end of the summer heat and I like the colors.

What is the first concert you ever attended?‍ ‍I don't remember what my first concert was, but I did go to a fun Meat Loaf concert back in their day that I really loved.

What is the bravest thing you have ever done? There have been a few times where I've had to stand up to friends on behalf of other friends. It can be pretty hard to look at someone you've been friends with for years and tell them that something they did wasn't okay and potentially end that friendship.
